MHS is hosting its 68th annual Health Assembly in Greenville, SC. The conference is designed to explore the stories we live and how we tell them, share them, interact with them, learn from them, and ultimately live them. The overall goal of the conference is to renew our sense of story so that it inspires and informs the way we share our past, interact in the present world and carry ourselves and our organizations into the future.
Chief Executives are invited to join MHS President & CEO, Karen Lehman, for a 1-day succession planning retreat. Equipped for Succession offers a safe place for chief executives to reflect on leadership succession, including their own personal timing and that of the organization, and ways to make a transition optimal for each. Registration includes meals, lodging for one night, and resource materials.
The MHS Executive Circle is a learning community of like-minded CEOs who meet to share challenges, practices, and ideas. A professional facilitator guides the group to address strategic, operational, and “soul and role” issues, strengthening leadership in a trusted setting. The Circle meets face to face three times over the course of a year. Readings, candid input from seasoned experts, and group discussions provide opportunities to explore new skills and learn about trends impacting nonprofit faith-based organizations and leaders.
Board work is group work. On a not-for-profit board, the members of the group are constantly changing as members join and leave the board. Ongoing board education and development are key to maintaining a shared understanding of the board's work and to a high functioning board. Our webinar series spends 30 minutes each quarter thinking about one important strategy for maintaining board quality.
