Everyday practices to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases – including the flu -- include:

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue, and throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily.
